The newly organized Connectional Ministries of STPPACE met before the new conference years starts

connectional ministriesLast April 25, 2017, chairpersons of boards, committees and commissions and other key leaders of the Southern Tagalog Provisional Conference met at Jesus Reigns UMC in Pila, Laguna presided by Julie Capulong the newly appointed director of connectional ministries with the presence of the incoming district superintendent – Rev. Nazzer Oliveros started the consolidation of the programs for the conference based on the 6 areas of focus of the United Methodist Church as mandated by Bishop Cerie Francisco.

Last 9th session of the STPPACE held in Pila, the Bishop Cerie provided time for the delegates to group themselves and draft programs based on the 6 areas of focus of the United Methodist Church. The original four areas of focus namely; Developing Vital Congregations, Developing Principled Christian Leaders, Ministry with the Poor and Eradicating Killer Diseases was added by two more which are Care for the Environment and respect for Human Rights.

This meeting aims to implement the said programs for the Conference in the span of 4 years. The newly created Connectional Ministries aims to coordinate, monitor programs with proper boards and committees which is headed by Julie Capulong as its director and will sit as part of the cabinet of the bishop.  The programs which were created are suited in the situation and needs of the conference and in the process would help this provisional conference would become a regular conference hopefully by the year 2020.

The young people also reported their program for the coming year and announced that they will host the national Christmas Institute Leadership Training this coming September. The body accepted this event with the support of the churches.

This body will again meet on May 26, 2017 at Pacita UMC in San Pedro, Laguna as the boards, committees and councils will report on detailed program based on the 6 areas of focus.
