Igniting the Passion for Teachers of STPPAC

The teachers of kindergarten schools of Southern Tagalog Provisional Conference held their regular equipping led by the deaconesses last May 14 – 15, 2015 at the Atimonan United Methodist Christian School in Atimonan, Quezon Province with the theme “Teaching with Passion”. More than 20 participants attended the activity which composed of volunteer teachers with the deaconesses of the Conference. Its their time for new learning, sharing of experiences, games, fellowship and bonding time.

There are 8 kindergarten schools related to churches in STPPAC 3 in Quezon District; – Quezon UMC, Alabat UMC and the largest in terms of enrollment and facility, the oldest running school and already received accreditation from the government education agencyis in Atimonan UMC. There are 6 kindergarten schools in Laguna District; in Calamba UMC, San Pablo UMC, Masapang Mission, Jesus Reigns UMC, Siniloan UMC, Kalayaan UMC. It is one of main ministry of the churches of establishing kindergarten in the community in providing academic education for children incorporating Christian values and also providing lower tuition fee. It is also the main ministry focus of the deaconesses especially in the Philippines. These deaconesses were also trained for providing balance and strong foundational education for early childhood.

In the Philippines it was known that Methodist were the first one that establish the first kindergarten school in the country. And the Harris Memorial College established more than a year ago was the main United Methodist institution that trains deaconesses for this kind of ministry.
