The United Methodist Youth Fellowship of the Southern Tagalog Provisional Conference shouts I AM! – Impart and Multiply as they commit their lives following the Lord Jesus and make disciples of all nations. Discipleship is the thrust of the recently concluded annual conference wide Christmas Institute held at Mt. Tabor Recreational Center at Cabuyao City in the province of Laguna (near Palace in the Sky of Tagaytay City in Cavite) last December 26 – 30, 2012.
One hundred and twenty young people from both Laguna and Quezon District attended the annual Christmas event for United Methodist youth in the Philippines. Aside from Lectures and Bible studies there are games , film showing and Praise and Worship sessions were held during the event. Led by annual conference UMYF president Khristine Hyacinth Flores of Atimonan UMC and with Kathleen Cates Robles of Pacita UMC the Laguna District UMYF president and Joshua Arevalo of Alabat UMC the Quezon District UMYF with all officers of annual conference UMYF and districts designed the program to start small groups among the young people in every local churches. They were guided by their advisers – the sisters Dr. Lea Fortaleza M. D. and Maye Fortaleza and also Rev. Nazzer Oliveros the annual conference UMYF worker with youth.
A district youth council was also held during the event where local chapters reports to their presidents regarding the status of the fellowships among the churches.
About 10 young people committed their life into full time ministry. The Christmas Institute is an annual gathering of the young people in the United Methodist Church in the Philippines and has been producing church workers and leaders in the church.
