Pamaskong Handog sa mga Katutubo – Celebrating Christmas among the indigenous people

Churches of Southern Tagalog Philippines Provisional Annual Conference participated through special offering in participation of the celebration of Christmas among the indigenous people which are supported by the Bayan ni Hesus – Pamayanang Katutubo Ministries – the Dumagat in General Nakar and Aetas in Calauag, Quezon.

Sta. Rosa UMC, Pacita UMC, Binan UMC, Pinagbayanan UMC and some individuals in Laguna District and also Kalinangan UMC and Capalohan Mission of Quezon District contributed for the special offering for Christmas cheers for the indigenous people. The funds collected bought slippers especially for the children and also gave food packs each families.

Rev. Marven Chavarria – the Pamayanang Katutubo Director, Rev. Nathaniel Francisco the Volunteer Community Coordinator for General Nakar, Rev. Mervin Anthony Montano – the project head of Bayan ni Hesus and Pastor Cris Pera member of annual conference Board of Church Society facilitated the fellowship among the Dumagat in Panangatan in Baranggay Minahan Norte at Genera Nakar.

Pastor Cris Pera gathered the children and shared reflection about the season and Pastor Nathaniel Francisco facilitated the fellowship among the Dumagat adult. Rev. Marven Chavarria prepared the food and Rev. Mervin Montano facilitated the gift giving.

Some of the gifts came from Rev. Joseph Kim, a Korean missionary in the Philippines working in Laguna. He also donated a solar powered audio Tagalog Bible ipod for the Dumagats for them to know about the Bible without reading it.

Pastor Federico Quinit Jr., the Volunteer Community Coordinator in Calauag, Quezon conducted the Christmas fellowship among the aeta community with Nilo Honrubia a church member of Capaluhan Mission.

The Bayan ni Hesus – Pamayanang Katutubo is a recipient of the Ethnic Local Church Grant of General Board of Church Society of the United Methodist Church. the contribution of the churches of STPPAC serves as their participation in the ministry project.
