Last July 7, 2012 Saturday the districts of Laguna and of Quezon conducted their respected adjourned session held after the annual conference session. The Laguna District held their adjourned session at Jesus Reigns UMC at Pila, Laguna and the Quezon District held theirs in Atimonan UMC in Atimonan, Quezon.
Rev. Nazzer Oliveros was elected as the new District Conference secretary for Laguna while Rev. Leonora Macaday was appointed secretary of the DS. Shirley Valenciano of Biñan UMC and formerly the annual conference president of United Methodist Women was elected as Finance chair. The Laguna District aimed to conduct its lay and workers meeting in its mission congregations to assist them.
Rev. Edgar Cruz who is under a special appointment and who was the chair of the annual conference board of pensions attended the Quezon District and presented the board of pensions plan along with the plan from the board of pensions of the Philippines Central Conference. The board promotes to the pastors to apply for the SSS under the P 15,000 category and under voluntary basis for those who are in the small membership churches.
Included also in the program is that local church will give its 1 % of the total budget to be part of the annual conference pension fund. The annual conference pension plan was for pastors who serve less than 20 years. For those pastors serve 20 years and more will be serviced by the Philippines Central Conference. There is also a counterpart for pastors to increase the annual conference pension plan through individual contribution with assistance from the council of finance and administration for small membership churches.
Also attended in the Quezon District adjourned session is Zenaida Ablao of Sta. Rosa UMC and also the annual conference treasurer as mandated by the annual conference to give her audited report to the adjourned sessions of the Districts. And because of incapacity of the annual conference auditor the report was not audited and as acted upon by the Council of Ministries which meets between session of the annual conference the treasurer’s report will be audited by the district auditors.
The chair of Finance Committee of Quezon, Aniceto Nieva Jr., requests for resignation but because there is no person who was nominated it was laid on the table. The new workers president is Felipina Pera a deaconess assigned in Atimonan UMC. Pastor Federico Quinit Jr., took the district statistic office and Pastor Vincent Pacto was the new Outreach Ministries chair.
