Remembers the birth of the National Hero – Dr. Jose Rizal on June 19

Dr. Jose Rizal – Father of Filipino Nationalism

This June 19 2012, marks the 151st birth of Philippines’ National Hero – Dr. Jose Rizal who was born in Calamba, Laguna. He is the seventh son of the eleven children of Francisco Engracio Rizal Mercado y Alejandro and wife Teodora Morales Alonzo Realonda y Quintos.

He is a Filipino genius and his love for his country inspires his country men in the Philippines even abroad. His passion for the country is immortalized in his two novels which are the Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. His martyr’s death in Bagumbayan now known as Luneta have spark the Filipino revolution against Spain.

His works does not only about his criticism of Spanish colony but pushes for political reform that reflects his idea of nationalism. Rizal is one Filipino that defines who Filipino is by his passion and love for the mother country and love for God.
